OK, so your clothes are all made from organic materials, you eat vegan, your makeup is even made from all natural minerals, but what the tools you use to apply your organic products all over your eco-friendly body? Like most people out there, you probably haven’t even considered how to green that detail of your beauty routine. Luckily, someone else has thought about it for you. Launching this month from the makers of all-natural makeup line NVEY ECO, are a brand new line of compostable and recyclable makeup brushes.

From the handle to the bristles, every part of these brushes can be broken down after you’re done with them. The handles are 100% compostable, made from a special corn resin that can be dropped in the soil to break down in your backyard, contributed to a local industrial composting center (soon searchable on www.econveybeauty.com), or returned to the NVEY ECO main office in Covington, KY to have them do the work for you, and to get 20% off future orders. The green aluminum metal piece and cruelty-free synthetic fibers can be cut off and recycled with your bottles and cans.

With every piece of your makeup and brushes now completely earth-friendly, no one ever has to know you even wear makeup. I mean, you’re perfect already, right? Yeah, of course you are.

I recently took on a quest to find the ideal product for instant beachy hair – that loosely touseled, crunchy look you can normally only get from an afternoon spent between a towel in the sun and cooling dips in the ocean nearby – and came upon a resounding winner in the Philip Pelusi P2 BeachComber product.

Not only does this little tub of lightly sweet-smelling balm give even my pin-straight hair some instant volume and wavy texture that lasts all day long, but it’s USDA Certified Organic! It’s made with Organic Cane Juice sugar granules, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Organic Grapefruit, Lemon and Sweet Orange Oils, and has Reishi Mushroom and Wolfberry antioxidants to help protect hair color. Although slightly expensive – $28.95 for a 4 oz. container – you only have to use a tiny bit to see a huge difference so I’m sure a little can go a longgggg way.

Since I’ve only been able to get to the beach once so far this year, I’m already addicted and have been using it every day. Totally worth the splurge for product that will easily last you the whole summer, if not longer.

To find out more about Philip Pelusi 100% Organic beauty products or to buy it, just go to philippelusi.com.

It’s safe to assume that the nasty chemical scent you inhale when you smell nail polish is bad news for the environment. Same thing goes for nail polish remover. This is all because of the – gasp! – chemicals used to make the polishes that allow you to adorn your fingertips with every color imaginable, primarily dibutyl phthalate (a commonly used plasticizer and suspected endocrine disruptor), toluene (a nausea-inducing and soil-contaminating solvent used in paints), formaldehyde and formaldehyde resin (a volatile and carcinogenic organic compound). ORLY Nail Polish claims to contain none of these things.

Plus they come in an incredible number of funky colors like these:

And as an added bonus, why not try the ORLY Sunscreen For Nails clear treatment.

Did you even know your nails could be damaged by the sun?? And here I just thought my neurotic habit of picking my nail polish off was the worst thing I had to worry about when it comes to the health of my nails. Every little bit counts!
